British Institute for Geological Conservation Committee:
Mr B. Evans B.Sc (Hons), M.Sc

Ben Evans is currently employed by the BIGC as Project Development Officer for the South Wales Coalfield Geopark Project. He originally became interested in geoconservation during his Applied Environmental Geology Masters degree at University Wales Cardiff. He was subsequently employed on several joint National Museum Wales and Countryside Council for Wales research contracts where he investigated the Carboniferous Westphalian outcrops and successions of the South Wales Coalfield. Following this research Ben worked with the BIGC to formulate proposals and funding bids to establish a Coalfield Geopark utilising many of the site previously researched. Ben has just successfully completed an 18 month Geopark scoping exercise funded by CCW which has identified the way forward for Geopark implementation in 2007.
